Alison gained a First Class Honours Degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Gloucestershire, and went on to achieve her Masters Degree in 2001. Alison started at terra firma in 2002, gained Chartership in 2005 and became Director and part owner in 2020.
With terra firma, Alison has been involved with design and landscape planning projects at all scales and in all sectors. Current and recent major design projects include the landscape for new-build mental health hospital, a secure children’s home, two prestigious sports venues, a hospice, and a number of schools.
Alison has also led on the production of landscape capacity and sensitivity studies for a range of development types, landscape character assessments and green belt studies.
Alison has undertaken numerous environmental impact assessments, including a mixed-use development near Felixstowe; housing developments in the South Downs National Park; a lifeboat station on the Isle of Man; and a new school in Jersey.
Alison undertakes public inquiries and local plan examinations for local authorities, in relation to housing and minerals and waste site allocations.
Alison acts on behalf of the Landscape Institute as exam monitor for Pathway to Chartership candidates and is a STEM Ambassador.
Until recently Alison chaired the Landscape Institute professional review group at the University of Gloucestershire, the Design Panel for the South Downs National Park, and writes regularly in the landscape architectural press.
